Yuanyang is famous for the rice terraces built on the cliffs of mountains, at an elevation of about 2000 meters built by the Hani during the past 1300 years.
There is four areas of the Rice Terraces that stand out as the “best” ones.
- Qingkou terraced fields scenic area to go after sunrise
- Bada terraced fields scenic area to see the sunset - very huge place
- Duoyishu terraced fields scenic area to see the sunrise famous for the sea of clouds that early in the morning covers part of the terraces.
- Laohuzui terraced fields scenic area to see the sunset sadly these rice terraces have been damaged by a landslide but you can still see it from up hill.
- Bada terraced fields scenic area to see the sunset - very huge place
